Privacy

The short version

We collect almost nothing. There are no accounts on this website, no logins, and nothing at all is stored about the children who read it.

The only personal information we ever hold is an email address, and only if a grown-up chooses to give us one. There are no adverts, no cookies, and nothing that follows you around the internet.

Children's privacy

This is the part that matters most to us, so it goes first.

Children can read every page on this site without giving us anything. No name, no age, no email, no sign-up, no account. There is nothing to fill in and nothing to agree to.

We don't ask children for information, and we don't knowingly collect any. The email list is intended for parents, carers and teachers — not for children.

We show no advertising of any kind, so no advertising company is tracking anyone here. We will never sell anything to a child, and we will never recommend a financial product to one.

If you join our email list

If you enter your email address in the signup box, here's exactly what happens.

What we collect: your email address. Nothing else — we don't ask for your name, and we don't need it.

Why: to email you occasionally when there's something new on the site. That's the only reason.

You have to confirm it. We use double opt-in, which means we send one email asking you to click a link. If you don't click it, you're never added. This also means nobody can add you by typing your address in without your knowledge.

Who stores it: a company called EmailOctopus, who handle our email list on our behalf. They don't use your address for anything of their own.

Leaving: every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're removed. You don't have to tell us why, and we won't email to ask.

We will never sell, rent or share your email address with anyone else. Not with advertisers, not with banks, not with anybody.

Counting visitors

We like to know roughly how many people visit and which pages they read — it tells us what to write next. We use Vercel Web Analytics for this, and we chose it specifically because of how little it collects.

It counts page views and visitor numbers. It cannot identify you, it doesn't build a profile of you, and it doesn't follow you to other websites. The file that does the counting is served from this website's own address, so no outside company is contacted when you read a page.

Cookies

We don't use any. That's why you've never seen a cookie banner here, and why you never will.

Your rights

Because the only thing we might hold is your email address, your rights are simple to exercise. You can ask us to:

• tell you whether we hold your email address
• correct it
• delete it
• stop emailing you (or just use the unsubscribe link — it's faster)

If you're ever unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Who we are

Robin's Nest Egg is an independent website built and run by a parent in the UK. It isn't a company, it isn't owned by a bank, and nobody pays us to say anything.

If that ever changes — if we're ever sponsored, or become a company — we'll say so plainly on the site, and update this page.
